National Librarians’ Day is observed on 12th August every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of Padmashri Dr S. R. Ranganathan, who is considered as the ‘Father of Library Science’ in India. Dr. Ranganathan dedicated his entire life to library profession in India leaving a rich legacy.

On 128th birth anniversary of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, the RRRLF celebrated National Librarians’ Day. This year a digital event was organized due to the pandemic.

A Panel discussion was arranged on “Role of RRRLF in shaping the future of the public library movement in India”.

RRRLF organised a three-day national level online workshop on e-Granthalya for library professionals through video conferencing from 22nd to 24th July, 2020 with the objective of training the library professionals on e-Granthalya, the library management software developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC).

The workshop comprised of theoretical and hands-on training sessions on various modules of the e-Granthalya software. The programme started with the welcome speech of Prof. Ajay Pratap Singh, DG, and was followed

by inaugural speech of the eminent chief guest Dr. Prithvish Nag, who shared his experiences about Public Library Services in New York and United Kingdom. He also spoke about public library system in Kerala and also about the rare resources available in the National Library.

A Webinar was organized on “Research Methodology in Social Sciences” on 24th June, 2020. A Notable speech was delivered by Prof. VinayKumar Srivastava, Director, Anthropological Society of India.

Many research scholars, teaching professionals, anthropologists including students from various parts of the country participated in the webinar.
